There are five branches of Bharatiya Seva Sadan’s educational ventures, Smt. Radhadevi Goenka College for Women, Akola is one of them. Smt. Radhadevi Goenka College for Women, Akola, (Maharashtra) is affiliated to Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati. It was established in 1965 by Bharatiya Seva Sadan. This Education Society is one of the oldest and pioneering educational societies of the unique within the landscape of Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. It was established with an objective to extend educational opportunities to empower the women of the region, who come from various small villages of Akola region.
It is a dream of Late. Smt. Radhadevi Goenka who is founder & mother of this institution who took the Vision – ‘Empowerment of Women through Economic Independence for Betterment of Society.’ similarly the mission is ‘To Impart holistic education in order to transform the girls into Empowered, Self-Earning & Efficient, Individual, Family members and Citizens.’ The college is centrally located in the heart of Akola city. It has a sprawling campus of 23 acres. It offers Five Undergraduate Programmes and Eleven Postgraduate Programs. The undergraduate courses are B.Sc. (Home Science), B.Com, B.A., B.B.A.; B.C.A. Semester pattern examination is implemented. The postgraduate programmes in. English Literature, Marathi Literature, Sanskrit Literature, Indian Music (Vocal), Sociology, Home Economics, Philosophy, Political Science ,Food Science and Nutrition, Human Development and M.Com., are offered to meet the diverse needs of students pursuing higher education. Along with this college is also providing Short Term Courses such as Tally and Fashion Designing.
The college has research centers for PhD work in 8 different subjects: English, Marathi, Music, Home Economics, Political Science, Commerce, Business Economics, and Home Science. We have 27 Departments apart from that the Sports Department, Training and Placement Cell, Psychological counseling and Health Centre are working to their fullest potentials for the upliftment and overall development of the students under the guidance of the Principal and Management.
The college has student strength of approximately 3000. The College has one NCC Unit of 110 students and one NSS Unit of 200 students which bring us laurels annually from University. Smt. Radhadevi Goenka College students are known for excelling in Sports – in State level. It has High Quality Teaching Staff with vast experience in Research. Many teachers are recognized Ph.D supervisors and have published Quality Papers in Peer Reviewed Journals, Books / Book Chapters, Conference Proceedings. The college annually hosts various activities. The financial literacy programme “MAI” being conducted by Hon’ble President Mr. Dilipraj Goenka for the final year students to create economical awareness and empowerment through financial literacy for the students is also one of its dynamic practices of the college. SWARSANDHYA is one of the unique and innovative initiatives of the Institute to provide an open and free of cost platform to the amateur musical talents of all age groups of the vicinity being hosted on every Saturday evening. The College is supported by 23 Non-teaching Staff.

The college has been re-accredited with ’B’ grade by NAAC with a CGPA of 2.71. College has one of the best infrastructures in the city. It has 2 Computer Labs with 100 computers, Well Equipped Laboratories, 1 Auditorium, 1 E-classrooms, 1 English Language Lab, 1 Audio Visual Hall, 1 Library with reading facilities of 60 seats and subscribing to journals and to leading digital databases. Our academic standard is already quite high. Now we are ensuring regular periods, attendance, internal exams, special tutorials, as required. This will ensure better results and more meritorious students . We will be taking advantage of latest academic tools like audio visual aids, educational CD’s, Movies, Guest - Lectures and Power Point Presentation, Seminars, Workshops, etc.
We already have a well stocked library containing more than 35000 books, Journals & Periodicals, fully trained staff to assist the students / teachers for their requirements. Now we have fully computerised the entire library so that all books / journals etc. are properly cataloged to make them easily accessible and smooth process of issue & return.
Computers have become an integral part of employment and even personal lives. To provide computer literacy to all students a special programme has been devised. A state of the art fully equipped computer lab with 60 + computer and wi-fi internet facility with 10 MBPS speed is available.
